Sekelle Nathan, the creative force behind Decor Appeal, transforms everyday materials into rustic-modern statement décor that feels both timeless and soulful. Her work blends natural textures, wabi-sabi aesthetics, and modern design, resulting in one-of-a-kind moss art, vessels, trays, and sculptural pieces that elevate any space.

At the heart of her practice is a simple philosophy: to bring her inner visions to life and share the journey with others — “just in case what amazes me, amazes them too.” Each piece is more than décor; it’s an invitation to see the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary.

Sekelle’s moss art spans two distinct approaches.
Some pieces are created in the traditional biophilic design style, emphasizing the calming presence of natural materials and organic form. These works often take the form of botanical abstracts and nature studies, where preserved moss is used to evoke landscapes, plant forms, and the quiet rhythms of the natural world. The goal is to bring a sense of nature, texture, and balance into interior spaces.
Other works are created in her narrative-driven style, Moss Mythopoetics, in which moss becomes a storytelling medium rather than the subject itself. In these pieces, moss functions much like paint or clay—one of many materials used to construct symbolic narratives about faith, heritage, transformation, and the human experience.
Works created in this style are considered moss sculptures, whether wall-mounted or free-standing.

Sekelle’s artistry has been recognized in the regional art community. She won Third Place in the Crooked Creek Art League’s 2025 Annual Art Contest, is a featured artist in the Resonate exhibit at The Gallery at Morning Star, and was honored as Palmetto Fine Arts’ August 2025 Artist of the Month.
